philips headphones

I purchased a pair of Philips Fidelio M2L headphones in October that were marketed as compatible with my iphone 7 and then starting last week, I got a message that they are not compatible; now they are no longer working. I am assuming a software update is the culprit. Philips appears indifferent to its customers' woes. Is there any thing Apple can do on its end or should we avoid buying high end accessories for our Apple products because they may suddenly become worthless a few months later?
