SD card error: The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.

I used an SD card I had taken from a camera to download some jpegs from a folder on my computer. Several times I was able to use the card in another computer. When I tried to use the card in the camera again, I got a "memory card error" on the lcd viewfinder of the camera. Now the computer I downloaded the images from won't read the card either. thanks

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)

You may have to erase the SD card in order for it to work properly again. Insert the SD card into your Mac, then open Disk Utility. Select your SD card and click Erase. Make sure that the format is set to MS-DOS (FAT). WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA ON THE SD CARD. Once you've erased the SD card, put it back into your camera and see if the camera recognizes the SD card. If all goes well, your camera should be able to save photos and videos to the card, and your Mac should be able to read it and import your photos and videos.

Hope this helps!
