Problems with Speak Selection/Text-to-Speech for Kindle App

I have confirmed that speak screen now works with kindle after their latest update. However this issue still needs to be resolved for iBooks PDFs. Speak screen skips to the last paragraph of the next page for every PDF I tested. I’ve also noted that iOS safari doesn’t play nice with speak screen even when in reading mode. This has worked well in the past, but now it constantly restarts and fails to read the page. The one time I got it to read, it stopped after skipping a photo. TTS on iOS has never worked so horribly for me in the past and I hope this issue gets resolved soon.

I’m using an iPhone 6s.

I did email Amazon/Kindle Customer Service. I received this response “I would like to inform you that most of the customers are experiencing this issue in skipping the Speak Screen (voice reader) function on Kindle for iOS, I've reported this to our technical team, and they're working on taking care of it. These errors are usually corrected shortly after they're reported.” He went on to suggest using VoiceOver in the meantime & gave instructions, which we’ve already learned. It may speed the process along if others do this as well.

l checked for an update on the App Store last night and there was one for Kindle. When I looked at the notes saying what the update would do it said it would fix this problem!!!! And it did!!!!! Thank you so much! Squeaky wheel gets the grease!!!!

Same problem. Only started occurring today after I updated the app. Pretty clear that it is an app issue.

I started having the same problem recently. I use the speech tool a lot reading book so this has been frustrating. Anyone discover a solution?

I'm guessing it works fine with iBooks, right? That's likely how Apple came to their conclusion. In fact, Apple has made the Kindle app incompatible with text to speech likely to sell more iBooks.

Sorry to bear the bad news.

Solutions:

1. Buy iBooks rather than Kindle.

2. Keep buying Kindle but use a Kindle device, not the app.

iBooks has the same problem.... it’s a tts issue I think because I first noticed it while reading in iBooks

Report it as feedback on www.Apple.com/feedback. It may work on purchased books, but not it doesn't work for me on iBooks PDF's that I've uploaded.

What EVERYONE needs to do is submit FEEDBACK at www.apple.com/feedback so that Apple can fix it. They will listen if there are lots of the same complaint.

Go to apple.com/feedback and let them know the problem exists. It might have been unintentional.

It is definitely within the Amazon Kindle because the same thing started happening on my Kindle Fire As well as my iPad.
