Cannot sync music from Mac to iPhone X with iClouds Music and iMatch turned on

I upgraded to iCloud Music Library and iTunes Match and now I cannot sync my music from my mac to my iPhone X. Is there a compatibility issue with iCloud or Match? I would like to simply reflect changes/corrections I am making in my library to my phone and I don't really care if it happens in the old Sync way or through iCloud but neither one is doing it. Please help. iTunes 12.7.3.46. IOS 11.2.6

You can't sync the old way with iCloud Music Library activated. Read this Turn on iCloud Music Library - Apple Support
