My iPhone X Compass not working

I found my iPhone X (256GB, space gray) compass not working, with compass app open I have my correct location with Lat/Long & elevation but the compass itself seems like been frozen and doesn't move at all, It shows the compass rose but the bubble does not move when phone is moved. When you press on the screen the numbers light up & when you press the screen again the numbers go dim but that's all it will do.


Location Services are on and I have a purple arrow that shows the app is using my location.


I didn't find this issue when I bought this phone because I didn't use this function until this time I traveled to London and use Compass and google map for directions.


I have tried turning the phone many times but nothing.


The level app that is in the compass app works just fine.


One more thing I need to mention is: I thought this is SW related problem so when I found IOS 11.2.6 released, I updated immediately, and Compass worked for just 5 minutes!, and it back to not moving as before update, no matter what I tried, it's not working at all.


I made reservation with Genius Bar this Sat, I assume they won't change me a new phone, just send back to factory for further analysis instead, I paid 1000+ dollars for this phone, how frustrated.

Just had the same issue but found for some reason my compass calibration was turned off. Check Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services - Compass Calibration.


System Services is all the way at the bottom of the Location Services menu. Hopefully it’s that easy for you.
