Burning CD's from a playlist
When I try to burn a CD from a playlist, the machine tells me that there are no items on the playlist, even though I checked the songs on the playlist. What next?

You cannot burn tracks that are in the cloud, or that are from an Apple Music subscription. If that isn't the issue then try right-clicking on the playlist name in the side bar and using the context menu rather than the main menu bar at the top of the screen.

By clicking on the playlist in the side bar, I can get the music to play but when I use the drop down menu and select "Burn..", the machine tells me there are no items in the playlist. I am not using the cloud or music subscription
Are all of the tracks in the list checked? Could the tracks be registering as Internet Streams, which is an issue that can arise particularly if using NAS to store your media? To check put your playlist into the Songs view and enable the Kind column.

Also, when I open the playlist, all of the songs are grayed out. It looks like the computer is not recognizing that there are songs in the list. This is happening with all of my playlists. I can get the songs to play but not to burn.
When I went to "songs," the display changed, I was able to check all of the songs, and nothing was grayed out any more. I didn't check further. I guess that I had some strange format selected before. I was able to burn the CD then.
Select playlist, use View > View As > Songs.

Don't understand. When I select my playlist and then select "Songs", it goes back to the general Library. BTW, I'm working on a desktop if that matters.
That did it!. Someday I'll learn to use this machine but until then, I'll have to rely on geniuses like you. Thanks again.
You're welcome. Did Kind reveal that the tracks are Internet Streams? Does Song Info (select a song and press CMD+I) provide any useful information?

Ah, so the tracks were unchecked, and therefore ignored for the burn. Glad to hear you've managed to burn your CD successfully.
