How do I save a slideshow from iPhoto album to a.MOV ... or QuickTime movie so that I’m able to save it to my Mac hard drive thumb drive or even burn a DVD

In iPhoto on your Mac you can export the slideshow project to a movie, while you are viewing the project.
Click the "Export" button at the bottom of the iPhoto window. Then select a format and click "Export".
Select a folder on the disk to save it to.
You will need authoring software to create a video DVD from the saved video, for example iDVD.
