lan 10/100/1000 missing

I have a MacBook Pro15" which is running on high sierra 10.13.3. I recently bought a Satechi HUB USB 3.0 TO 10/100/1000 GIGABIT ETHERNET LAN NETWORK ADAPTER but my macbook didn't recognize the ethernet connection of the device (usb ports are working). While following the steps recommended by the Satechi tech. support, I've lost the LAN 10/100/1000 USB interface option under the network settings. I tried the SMC reset but it didn't work. Could anyone help me on that?

Ethernet problems My Macbook Air will frequently not recognize the USB ethernet connection. I've tried deleting the "USB 10/100/1000 LAN" connection and reestablishing it by plugging the ethernet connection back in and trying to refresh the DHCP lease , but no luck. The USB LAN connection is visible in the Network window but it's red and says "Not Connected". I even updated the OS from 10.13 to 10.14, but the problem persisted. The strange thing is that on rare occasions the ethernet connection does work, seemingly without rhyme or reason. I also have an iMac and another Macbook Air in the household, and they do NOT have this problem, using the exact same connection. Any suggestions how to fix this?

Expert advice needed ASAP!: Can't get Ethernet setup with USB adaptor I'm suddenly seeing a problem where my MacBook is refusing to connect to Ethernet, despite that a known working USB to Ethernet Adaptor (Realtek chip) is connected to the MacBook. The adaptor I'm using is a standard USB to Gigabit Ethernet adaptor, using a Realtek chip. So no drivers are necessary, and has worked flawlessly in the past. All of a sudden, it would not detect the Ethernet connection at all, even though the System Information clearly shows that the "USB 10/100/1000 LAN" is connected and working. Even if I connect a cable to the adaptor, it doesn't go online in the Network Preferences panel. I thought I might need to delete the connection and add it again, only to find that you can't add the USB Ethernet connection in Network Preferences, as shown below. Note how it is detecting the USB adaptor, but doesn't appear in Network Preferences. I'm stumped. Any help appreciated! I've posted a same question on the Big Sur forums, but with no help or reply whatsoever... perhaps the MacBook section may be better thus reposting the same question here.
