I have a usb type-c hub (Ugreen), MacBook Pro 2019 15", and MacOs Catalina 10.15.2
The hub does work when I tried using it with another notebook, but when I connect my MacBook to lan, my mac doesn't recognise it
Also, there's no 'Ethernet' listed in my Network settings

I "solved" the problem by installing a driver called AX88179... I don't really see this as a solution, it's more of a hack to be honest
But, at least now I can share files over LAN from my PC to/from my MacBook Pro

What happens when you try to create an Ethernet connectoid, using the "+" button?

Well, if that’s what you’re using here, try the specified dongle and see if that works. That some chunk of hardware works on Microsoft Windows does not reliably imply that the hardware will also work on macOS. The reverse, as well.
There's no option for Ethernet in the + button
