Deleting the entire TimeMachine backup

My QNAP NAS allows TimeMachine to backup to it along with anything else I copy to it. But now, TimeMachine is taking up quite a bit of space so I would like to delete it altogether and start over, this time putting a limit on the size. How do I go about deleting the whole backup without touching the rest of the file system?

I found this solutionHow to delete all time machine backups from an external HDD? However, I feel like it would remove everything from my NAS.

Can anyone confirm this solution? or if not, one that would achieve what I'm trying to do?

Thanks
