Image file conversion/types compatible with iOS? dxf possible?

I need to get some jpg or tif files somehow converted to dfx. I only have the iPad Pro since the MacBook died. Can I do it? Been trying all day and no luck so far. Tried free conversion sites and got some apps. Some of the conversions say they are successful but I get “unsupported file type” message when I try to open certain ones, even from apps bought at App Store, where one would hope that things play nice with iOS.

If if I am not going to be able to do this with an iPad Pro what should i do? some service that will do it for me? Borrow someone’s laptop or desktop? Create my own new images in AutoCAD?

thank you

iPad Pro 12.9-inch, 2nd Gen, Wi-Fi, iOS 11.2.6, null

This is confusing and doesn’t make any sense

Jpegs (.jpg) and TIFF (.tif) files are formats for photos/images produced in an image editor or digital cameras.

An AutoCad DXF (.dxf) file is another type of CAD/vector illustration file that is a conversion format that allows other vector illustration apps to open and work with AutoCad or any type of 2D/3D CAD files saved in this format.

Why do you need to turn a jpeg or TIFF file into a dxf file?

Most drawing (vector) style apps should be able to import a jpeg or TIFF image into these programs.

What you want to do doesn’t make any sense.

If anything, you might be able to save a DXF file as only an image file in jpeg or TIFF format, but this does not make any sense trying to do this the other way around.

You do know that turning an image file into a .dxf fike doesn't turn an image into a vector file, right?

I am not implying that your stupid, BTW.

There are vector style drawing apps (not free) for iOS that may let you import a jpeg or TIFF into a drawing document and then you might be able to save or export THAT file as a DXF file with the image in the file.

Vector apps for iOS

Adobe Illustrator Draw

Concepts

Vectornator

Touch draw

PadCad

Graphic

InkPad

Look at the descriptions to see if DXF is supported.

There is AutoCad for iOS, too, but not sure what it does without an AutoDesk monthly subscription.

thank you. those are the things i have been trying. I really don know anything about this really. I once was able to go jpg to a vector of some sort for the same purpose. Imwill figure it out.

That is not possible UNLESS there was some sort of specialised app that was able to take an image file and auto-trace it using vector lines to try and re-create the image in a vector line format.

Adobe had such an app long ago, called Adobe Streamline, but this app was discontinued long, ago.

I know CAD and am, also, a graphic designer/illustrator/digital artist and I know quite a bit about this subject

Yes when i did it before i used some other people who had software that could get me what i needed. A friend, and a paid someone online few bucks to do one. I trust that you know what you are talking about. ... what i want would probably be easy for you. Happy to pay you if you want a small job. .... it looks like i may be ablue to get jpg into AutoCAD and then into dwg, and dwg can work as well as dxf. But I’d just as soon pay someone who knows what they are doing.

I don’t own one one this specialised auto tracing programs and to hand “vectorise” an image in a regular vector illustration program could be too tedious and time-consuming for me, depending on how complex the image is, maybe not worth it for my time and what I may have to charge you to do this.

These specialise programs will auto trace/vectorise an image a WHOLE lot faster than someone doing this by hand.

Plus, if you can, it maybe better for you to find someone in your local area to help you.

Just in case some additional work on the file is needed.

I live in New England (MA). So, this could be problematic, too, for the both of us.

Thanks, anyways, though.
