Change markup shortcut in preview
Hi, I would like to change the markup shortcut in preview from [control] + [command] + H to [command] + E.
Does anyone now how to do that? 🙂

You can't change "control + command + H" but you can add "command + E".
Open System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts
select "App Shortcuts" and click the "+". Select "Preview" as the Application.
Type "Highlight Text" without the quotes as the Menu Title
then in "Keyboard Shortcut", press "command + E"
Close System Preferences.
The command+E short cut is already used by Preview : Edit menu : Find : Use Selection for Find. One should review all menu and sub-menu in an application to determine if a short-cut is already in use by the application.
I checked High Sierra 10.13.3 Supplemental and El Capitan 10.11.6 before I posted, and both Preview use ⌘-E for the discussed menu entry. I also double-checked the Keyboard : Shortcuts : Apps entries to ensure that I had not set this shortcut there for Preview — and had not.
Hi, thanks.
I managed to change it to command + r.
Just out of curiosity, is it possible to remove the command + e shortcut already in use so that I can replace it with a custom shortcut?
Thanks again!
Any shortcut in an application that is hard-coded by Apple — cannot be removed, or changed. The ⌘-R sequence (this includes lowercase 'r') is already assigned by Apple to the Rotate right feature of Preview.
Like I mentioned previously, you will have to laboriously look at every menu and submenu to see what shortcuts Apple already has assigned Preview.
I just checked a different Mac and command E is there. Weird.
Well, the computer I was on when I did the screenshot didn't have it. However, another did. I may have mentioned that. 😎
Geez. At some point Command E is now showing when it didn't previously. My Mac is haunted. 😮
Not the iMac Pro, i hope? 😉
lol
No. an iMac 5k. 😎
It may be for a reason I can't talk about. 😉
