I read some of the threads from last year about the Sony Ericsson W810i. I'd like to wait for the iPhone, but I need a new phone now. Are people having good luck syncing this phone? Also, unrelated to syncing, is the call quality & reception as good as the reviews I've been reading say it is? Any input of any kind about this phone would be greatly appreciated. I was also considering the Sony Ericsson 300i, but reviews say the camera is terrible. I don't really care about a camera because I have a very nice Canon digital, but if the phone must have a camera, I want it to take usable photos.
iMac G5 PPC 20" 2GHz, 2GB Ram/400GB HD, iMac G4 15" 800MHz,
Mac OS X (10.4.8),
Airport Express, OWC 320GB FWHD, iLife 06, QT7 Pro, JBL Encounters
I forgot about that. I guess, even with the Cingular phone, I can unlocked it after 90 days. Does that sound right?
Also, will I be able to check my .mac mail with the W810i
firman,
I may be wrong, but from what I've been reading, you would connect the supplied USB cord & the phone mounts like a hard drive to the Desktop. You would then drag your music to the phones music folder. Julian or mrtotes should correct me if that's not correct.
I apologize again for messing up the awarding of points in this thread. There's some good info that I would like to award points for. After I get the phone on Saturday, if I have more questions, I'll post back here with a link to a new thread. Maybe I can make up for it that way.
Yes, the W810i has a POP3/SMTP email client built-in, so you'll be able to set it up to pick up your .Mac email. You may have to use your network providers outgoing SMTP mail server to send mail though.
If you have a GMail account, Google has a very nice Java Email Client, especially for GMail. In your phones web browser, just go to www.gmail.com/app to download it.
Hi Jools & mrtotes.
Got my W810i & what a great phone. It has it's minor issues, but the call quality, screen resolution & IU are great, not to mention how easy it was to sync contacts & calendars via Bluetooth. Thanks for the input from both of you. The sales rep at the local Cingular store I bought it at, had the same phone & was into Macs. Made it that much more fun.
Jools, Is there any advantage one way or the other with Google mail vs Yahoo. I do have a Google account, so I could set it up pretty easy. But Apple is using Yahoo mail on the iPhone (my prediction is it will be changed to Apple Phone before the launch). Is Yahoo a leaner Application?
By the way;
The Apple Phone (iPhone) is going to be huge. I was told at the Cingular store that before I got there, a gentleman came in & asked if he could put a US $2,000. deposit down on 2 iPhones!!!!!!
