In Photos, when I create a slide show from an album, the order of the photos is not maintained. That seems dumb and is definitely irritating. Can this be avoided?

How are you creating the slideshow from the album?

In Photos 3.0 on macOS 10.13.3 High Sierra, the slideshow will have a sort order, roughly similar to the order in the album, if you create the slideshow by ctrl-clicking the album in the sidebar and then use the command "Create > Slideshow". Some photos will be moved, if the selected theme needs several photos per slide.

It is weird, but the results for ctrl-clink and using the contextual menu are different from using the command from the File > Create > Slideshow from the File menu.
