Old password "hint" still on wallpaper at sign-in

Under High Sierra 10.13.3 I changed my "admin" log-in password and hint to a new one. But the old hint (now wrong) still shows down at the bottom of the screen just above the "restart" and "logoff" arrows, etc... and I can't get it to go away. The new hint shows up fine when you take the little "?" inside the gray password box.

I haven't tried changing the "aspect ratio" (size of the desktop) back yet (years ago I made everything bigger) ... could this somehow be involved ?

iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Log in & admin password changed, and other user Avatar.. Help!!! Hi, This morning when trying to log on to my Imac M1, my login password will not work. There is another user also on this Imac and their Avatar has also changed. The other user can log in using their login password. I am the admin on this Imac, but cannot change the password from user preferences when logged in as the other user. Does anyone know why this would randomly happen, or how to fix this? Any help would be much appreciated.

I seem to have miss typed my iMac login PW - now cannot change it. I know what the PW should should be as written down - but I seem to have miss typed it o r inadvertently over fingered onto another key. As it is I have tried using "next to it" keys one 4 options each.... nothing. I cannot change to a new PW - because it asks for the Old PW... and reject it! Any suggestion? 2011 iMac OS Sierra
