iMovie not opening new project properly

I click projects at top left and the window opens with 'My Movie selected- I name my project and it automatically renames the last project I made with the new one I'm about to create? I can't get Tony 'create' button without going through this laborious way of creating a movie. Does anyone know what is wrong? I notice Trooper2016 is having the same problem.
