how the id code is entered in a old iPod?

Entering the veri-code is easy when using the laptop with the latest OS.

I am trying to use my old ipod IOS 6.1.6. In this device, a field with boxes to enter this code is not available.

So, how do I enter this code to enable this old device to be used?

Thanks

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)

Yes, after I press "Allow" a code "### ###" displays in the Trusted device.

The old iPod device displays an empty box where should enter the verycode.

I enter the pwd and have tried these entries:

- password######

- password### ###

- password ### ###

- password### ###

When I try a couple of these, my account locks up and I am required to change the password.

This put me in an infinite loop.
