Apple TV showing photos not in Photos on Mac

Here is a real conundrum. I have a Smart Folder set up in Photos on the Mac so that any albums I create are automatically added to a folder called 'Apple TV'. On the Apple TV my screensaver is set for the 'Apple TV' folder.

How come then that photos will appear randomly from my partners phone camera roll which are most definitely not in ANY folder on the Mac? 😕😕

UPDATE

Further to my statement which is not strictly true... let me elaborate. Having created a Smart Folder in Photos that includes all albums (which have had their photos sorted ie. duplicates deleted) it would seem the Smart Folder also includes all files that were deleted from their respective albums. Why this behaviour should occur is beyond me. Surely adding folders to a Smart Folder should keep the contents exactly intact?
