Watch stuck in a boot loop (for a week) after attempted update

I have a Series 1 Apple Watch which last Thursday I tried to update. However during the update, the watch got stuck in a boot loop and has remained in this state ever since. I have let the battery drain down to zero and tried charging it up again to no avail, still stuck in a boot loop. I have performed many hard resets, no luck. I also unpaired my watch from my iPhone, which I now regret doing as there seems to be no way that my phone recognises my watch and it literally seems that my watch will just end up remaining in this infinite loop. I've tried contacting apple support but my watch is a good year out of warranty, are there any other options besides buying a new watch?
