Why does my Terminal window get wider when I add a tab?

Hi,

I've found an annoying behaviour in Terminal that I don't understand. When I open enough tabs that not all of them are shown at the top of the window, each additional tab opened causes the window to get wider. Also, I can't resize the window back to its previous size. I can't see the reasoning behind this, and I'd prefer the window to stay the same size.

Incidentally, I'd also prefer if all my tabs were shown at the top of the window (rather than in the drop-down list), even if that means the tab titles are heavily truncated.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.
