Did you receive this 'virus' notification in an email? If so, delete the email and don't click on any link within it. Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
w97m is a Word macro virus. It can only run if you open an infected Word document, and have Word set to automatically run macros. By default, macros are disabled. Word will detect if a document has a macro attached and ask if you want to run it.
Even then, the macro has to be able to run under the OS its intended for. Since it's a Windows macro virus (it attempts to download .exe and other Windows files when run), it would be unlikely for it to do anything on your Mac. Other than download files that won't run in the Mac OS in the first place.
It was either a document included with something else you downloaded, or was an attachment in a scam/spam email. Typically the latter.
What leads you to believe you have "w97m"?
a) Who or what told you that there is any virus on your Mac?
b) Why would you believe an unsolicited diagnosis from a stranger?
Because I ran a scan and it appeared and supposedly its deleted but I wanted to make sure..
If you ran a scan with a reputable program and the program says it's gone, then it's definitely gone. What program did you use?
