virus protection

I will be travelling to Europe from Australia later this year and expect to be using wifi at cafes etc when possible. it has been suggested to me that I will need virus protection for my iPhone X and the current iPad. Is this correct? I have read other enquiries saying NO however, I am asking specifically for the travelling.Thanks
