macOS High Sierra dock freezes and hangs

I'm running High Sierra on my MacBook Pro Touch Bar. I have the dock set to autohide. Often times, when I click on an application or a recent window from the dock, the dock magnifies and hangs. It's just stuck magnified and doesn't go away. To make it go away, I have to bring my cursor down like I would trying to unhide the dock. Then it would move and autohide. How do I fix this? There was a question on the same issue posted by someone, but that user was running Sierra. There was no definite solution and the issue persisted through 2 OS.
