If anyone else has tried connecting their airpods to their apple watch with trouble (ie. “Connection failed. Make sure airpods are on and in range”) I have found a solution.

To fix this problem, you have to keep your airpods in the case while you click connect in the bluetooth settings of your watch. Once it successfully connects you may take them out, put them in your ears, and begin listening from the watch.

If that doesn’t work, here is something that certainly will. Pur your airpods in their case, turn bluetooth off on your phone, then power off your watch completely and turn it back on. Once it turns on, open it to the audio you would like to play, then take the airpods out of the case. They should automatically connect to your apple watch and then you can play audio like normal, if not connect them manually in the watch’s settings. Once they are connected, you can turn your iphone’s bluetooth back on and from now on turn it off before you take the airpods out of their case. It’s not perfect but it’s better than nothing.
