I’m running El Capitan on a 2009 MacBook Pro.Until very recently I have been importing from a DV video camera, directly into IMovie for editing. iMovie no longer allows me to do so. I replaced my old FireWire chord with a new one with no success.

Do I really have to up-date iMovie, which means updating my operating system, which means a new computer ??

importing live video to imovie I have been successfully importing video from a sony DV-Cam player DSR-11 to my macbook pro via a mini firewire connector into imovie. I'm using OS 11.4 which may be a recent upgrade and my computer is not recognizing the signal. I plugged the player into an older macbook pro running on 10.15.7 and it recognized the player immediately. I really need to work on the newer machine, does anyone know what changed and how I can return to importing into the newer machine?

Is it possible to convert iMovie 11 library back to iMovie 10? I have an iMovie library created with iMovie 10 on a Mac running Catalina. The library is on a portable external drive. I temporarily connected this drive to another computer, a Mac running Monterey, and I opened the library with iMovie 11. This resulted in the library being converted to a new format, which iMovie 10 cannot open. I would like to access this library again with the original computer that can only run iMovie 10 (the latest version of iMovie that can run on Catalina, from what I gather). Is this possible? Can an iMovie 11 library be converted back to a format that iMovie 10 can access? I considered the alternative of updating the original computer to Monterey but it's too old for this.

using iMovie without upgrading software Hi There I have a 2011 MacbookPro 15" Serial:C02HL1H3DV7N My OS is High Sierra. That seems to be my latest update. I have been working on a new personal project with my iPhone XR using iMovie. When I try to transfer the video to my laptop and attempt to open iMovie, my computer wants me to update my iMovie. For some reason my computer doesn't seem to want to do the update. I was hoping there is a way for me to somehow get around this issue so I can edit my videos properly. I would appreciate ANY and ALL advice and/or suggestions. Many Thanks!
