Purchasing Songs from iTunes

I just tried purchasing a song from iTunes, so that I could put it in an iMovie. Although it said that I had purchased it, it wouldn't let me put it in the iMovie and would not show up in the lists of songs I had bought in iMovie.

iTunes music iniMovie I am trying to create an iMovie for my son for graduation and use songs that I purchased from iTunes. Some of the songs will not import into iMovie, saying that are protected or unavailable. I thought if you purchased the songs from iTunes, you could use in other Apple apps? Is this not the case? Using purchased music in iMovie I have purchased songs from the iTunes store to insert as soundtrack into my iMovie movies. Some copy fine, but I cannot get some other songs to "stick" in iMovie (they won't copy into it). I was told by the iTunes folks that some songs have copyright restrictions that prevent their use. Is there any way to tell before purchasing them, which songs can and cannot be inserted into iMovie? Better yet, is there any workaround for this problem? The iMovies are strictly for personal use.
