OS update notification popped up on my screen so clicked install... now it won’t do anything and has the following error message on the screen:
“macOS could not be installed on your computer
The path /System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg appears to be damaged or missing. Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.”
I am unable to get the computer to do anything. Turning off then on just comes back to this error message.
Thank you for the idea. Unfortunately it didn’t work. I was able to open in safe mode, but when I restarted again it went back to same installation error message.
Is there something I can do in safe mode to reverse the OS update?

Booting in Safe mode then normal boot could solve the problem.
Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support
On my last restart I was able to access the installer bar options at the top of the window and restarted again with original start up.
It’s working now, but without the update.
