Can't dump my trash due to a permission issue

I am trying to dump my trash where I dumped my ext HD backups. After being prompted to input my password, get this message: “The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items.”

iMac27 (late 2013), macOS High Sierra, v10.13.3

HDD not letting me backup files I am a new mac user and today was my first time trying to backup my photos and it would not let me do it. When i tried finding solutions online, i found my problem but still couldn't find a definitive answer. It says here in the sharing & permissions tab of my hdd that as the admin can read & write. But on to of the table it says that i can only read. I have tried unlocking the lock and trying to change all the permission to read & write but it gives me this.

Permission to throw out trash 10.6 Tried all the tricks I read here to be able to throw out trash without my password, including trying to put the "Administrator" in the Get info window via the HD icon-it says I don't have "privileges" to do that. In 10.13.6 is there a Terminal command to solve this and what is it specifically?
