iRig and GarageBand Help

Hi, so I am using an iRig Duo and plugging it into my iPad Mini 4. When plugging it in with the lightning connector adapter, it states “audio connected“ and that I should turn monitoring on. I click “turn monitoring on” and try to record. Nothing comes through my headset which is plugged into my audio jack. After a few seconds, the same “audio connected” message comes on, and I need to again turn monitoring on; This stops any recording. I have a guitar and a mic plugged into my iRig, I’ve tried both, or either or plugged in same result. This continues to happen over and over, and basically renders the setup useless. My Mono Audio is off in my settings, which I saw as a common problem when researching. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
