First, when I take a screenshot, the burn-in doesn’t appear in it. Second, I’ve done research on burn-in before I even got the iPhone X and I know that keeping the screen on for long periods of time can cause burn-in. However, I have Auto Lock on for 30 seconds and I ALWAYS turn my phone off when I’m not using it. Third, I am sure that it’s not the bar dimming, because when I’m in Landscape Mode, I can still see the burn in on the side of the screen.
On my iPhone X, the bar at the bottom of the screen that replaces the home button, getting burn-in on my screen!

1. Do you have a screenshot?
2. Are you leaving your phone on all the time?
3. Are you sure it is burning in and not just it going dim when another app is open?
Without a screenshot, I can only suggest taking it to the Apple store genius bar for an evaluation.
