Error Domain=VPPServiceErrorDomain Code=0 "(null)"

Hello Community,

Since updating to High Sierra and Server 5.5, I have not been able to get Profile Manager to sync with Apple School Manager. I have tried many things to fix the issue, including but not limited to, rebinding OD to AD (which fixed the problem the last time I did a major update), applying new tokens, and many other things I've found in community posts. It seems when I change something the errors change, but still no syncing to ASM.

Here are a couple of the latest errors I am seeing the most in devicemgrd.log

Node '/LDAPv3/127.0.0.1' reported as unreachable

And...

EXCEPTION: NSError <-[DMVPPSyncRunner _manageLicenses]_block_invoke (/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/RemoteDeviceManagement/RemoteDeviceManag ement-917.4/Compiled/devicemgrd/SyncRunners/VPP/DMVPPSyncRunner.m:701): "(Error Domain=VPPServiceErrorDomain Code=0 "(null)")">

USERINFO: {

}

Has anyone else found a solution to these problems? Searching forums has not help me fix the issue so far.

Thank you,

EL

So, Apple never got back to me to fix the problem but I figured it out myself! I just had a couple of things setup wrong in Profile Manager after upgrading to Apple School Manager. Here is what fixed my issue and get rid of this error:

1. I setup ASM Authentication in Profile Manager using the Content Manager account, which used to be my VPP account. This account is also setup as an Administrator in ASM. Before I changed this I was using the main Administrator account for ASM to authenticate. I am not absolutely sure if this was really part of the the fix, but I did that before doing the next step...

2. I downloaded "My Server Token" in ASM under Settings/Apps and Books, and used that as my VPP token in Profile Manager. This may be what actually fixed the problem. Before that I was using the "Legacy Library" token, and also, under Apple's instruction, I downloaded the token from the VPP website and tried that. I thought I had tried the ASM token before and it didn't work, but it worked now so maybe doing that first step was also part of the fix. It's all working properly now so I don't want to try changing anything.

Note: The issue I was having that lead me to the above error message was that, after converting my accounts to ASM, my purchases were not showing up in Profile Manager, my app counts were off, and I had a lot of "Waiting for License" messages in the tasks trying to push out apps. Hopefully these steps might help anyone with the "Waiting for License" messages.
