Best way to combine two projects in Logic Pro X

Hi all,

I'm looking for the best way to combine material from one project with another so that they can be mixed as one piece of music. For example: my current project starts at measure 1, but I have a separate project with music that I would like to use as a prelude in the current project, and then do a mix in which the prelude fades out while the other fades in. It seems to me I need to copy the current project and paste it to the end (at the appropriate measure) of the project which has the prelude . . . Is this the best way? or should I export one of the projects? or does Logic offer another method?

Thanks, JF

Hi bobmusik,

I just tried that as per your suggestion. I ran into a few problems with it, however. One track with software instr. didn't play. But there was another problem that seems really odd. And it raises another question. The two pieces that I want to combine are in the same project folder (I had forgotten that when I originally posted this question). They are named Chorale I and Chorale II. With Chorale I open, I tried to import Chorale II, but it copied Chorale I instead. Couldn't make it work.

Maybe being in the same project folder is the issue? I ended up exporting Chorale I as midi, then imported the midi file into Chorale II. Had no audio tracks so I didn't have to deal with any of that.

Thanks for the reply,

JF
