MacBook Core 2 Duo Wifi: airport Exreme Update 2007-001 fix!!

At last!...
After applying this update my MacBook C2D now successfully connects to my SMC Barricade 2804WBRP-G.

It's been a long wait, but what a relief now!
Hope it will be the same for other users with various routers.

Guess we will need updated Bootcamp drivers to enjoy connectivity on XP side too...

Can confirm that this update fixed very serious problems with our wireless which uses WPA Enterprise authentication.

We have successfully tested on two affected MacBook C2D 10.4.8 systems. The update has fully resolved the problems on these systems and reliable connections can now be made immediately.

Apple recommends the update for all Intel Mac users.

The 2007-001 Airport upgrade did more harm than good for me. Internet has slowed down noticeably and more difficult than ever to stream music to Airport. I assume it's because I cycle between a drop in the connection and a reconnect more often since the install.

I was better off before and would gladly undo the upgrade if I knew how - not that it worked well before but it is clearly worse now.

Well this update hasn't solved a single thing for me. Actually no, it has the only difference is that my MacBok will connect to the network on startup now.

The only way I can connect my MacBook is if all other Macs on the Network are switched off. I mean the other Macs I have, have to be powered down.

Then the MacBook can access the internet BUT only if I am well away from the Airport base station. It doesnt seem to like being anything LESS, (yes less) than 10 foot from the unit or it won't find it. If I sit next to the unit...even put my MacBook ontop of it, well, no good.

Isn't that weird?

I also snigger at Apples attempts to pretend there isnt a problem (they have denied on around 8 occassions to me on the phone) and now release an update quietly in the hopes it will all go away. I dont enjoy their policy of denial after having gone through the whole Logic Board problem with my iBook.

Here's hopeing they try again....or maybe they want me to buy the New Airport Express next week on release to solve my problems?...is it a money making ploy? Who knows as long as they sort it and I dont have to pay for it.

I didn't have any issues pre upgrade, and I still don't. I have noticed that I don't seem to be getting any more "beacon miss" messages in the system log, although they didn't seem to cause any problems before. WEP enabled networks do seem to be a common theme among folks that are having issues though. Personally, I don't understand why people would use WEP, when WPA is available. Cryptanaylsis has show WEP to be practically worthless.
