It worked fine until a few days ago, but suddenly I can no longer import DV videos into iMovie. IMovie recognizes the camera, but when I click Import nothing happens. I wonder if this has something to do with upgrading to High Sierra around the same time, slowing down my Mac a bit...
Any suggestions are much appreciated.

There have been a few posts in recent months concerning problems importing DV ( and HDV ) into iMovie.
The common factor appears to be caused by upgrading to High Sierra.
Some report no audio ,or like you nothing at all.
Unfortunately there does not seem to be a fix, as yet.
Have you tried having the tape playing in the camcorder before hitting import? either by using the on screen
play control or the camcorder play control?

There have been several postings about failure to import dv files in iMovie 10.1.8 and High Sierra. A workaround you can try is to open a dv file in Quicktime player and export as 480. You will get a mov file which you can import into iMovie. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the suggestion. Have never done this, but will try and see if I can get this together. Looks like it does have something to do with the upgrade as others have had similar problems...

Wow, unbelievable. Why did I not think of this seemingly simple solution? Just pressed Starton the camcorder, then Import on iMovie, and it worked! Many, many thanks!
