How can I place my Applications folder in my Dock? I now use Finder>Applications, but I'm tired of that. I want to go straight to the Applications. If possible, I would like to have an icon or file with a label.

Have you tried simply dragging the folder to the Dock?
It is simple enough to use the Finder shortcut shift command A to open the applications. Certainly more accessible than a stack or folder on the Dock.
You can also set it in Finder preferences>General> to be the default window command N.
1) from the App folder drag the apps onto the dock
2) if an App is already open it's icon should be into the dock. Right-click on it's icon -> Options -> Keep in dock
For better arrangement when an icon is in the dock drga it in the position you prefer.
That rang a bell, so I tried. It didn't work. I thought it should, so I also tried using the Control, Option, and Command buttons at the same time. Nothing worked. It seems to me that I have dragged things to the Dock before, so I am really puzzled. I'll try again. I just did and got the same results. Maybe I'm doing it the wrong way. I'm clicking on Finder>Applications; then I try to drag the Applications folder in the Favorites section to the Dock. It won't go.
That worked. Others suggested the same thing, but I'm giving you credit because you forced me to try again. I guess I just hadn't gone far enough to the right before. I now have an untitled file in my Dock. I would prefer a titled one, but that will have to do for the moment.
If you Control-click on the item in the Dock you will get a submenu where you can select how to have the item display in the dock, you may need to select Folder to get the blue Application folder to show up.
Thanks. It now has a big Capital A. That will have to do, so I'll end my quest now. However, if I had my druthers, I'd really prefer a way to type what I want onto the files I place in the Dock. It seems to me that there are websites where you can download many types of files--very attractive ones-- but there was some reason why I never did. I may check them out again someday.
Not for me. I only use keyboard commands if there is no alternative. Keyboard commands only work IF YOU REMEMBER WHAT THEY ARE. That's a fatal flaw in my opinion. I use FORCE QUIT, and one or two others, but there will never be any more.

*eye roll* You said you were dragging the folder. In my sidebar Applications does not look like a folder (and of course i know it isn't the folder).
Oh there's a way to add an icon, several ways in fact, but I'm not going through this again. đ
And I didn't read your comments all the way through. I had thought you were saying to use a keyboard command to access Applications. Now that I see what you were saying--something I had never heard of--I think I'll give it a shot, out of curiosity if for nothing else.
Open a Finder window click and hold the Applications folder and drag it into your Dock to the right of the vertical line/ separator.
Misunderstood your question. Anyway this method is useful for the most used folders and disks. I personally have in order from left to right: my HD, Home folder, App folder, Utikities folder.

I have no idea of what you're trying to say, but I now have a labeled Applications folder in my Dock, so I'm satisfied.
