Just bought a OWC Mercury Electra 3G ssd

I attempted to attache the ssd to the cable of my 6.1 MacBook, and it was so loose that it felt like all of the pins where not touching. If I sneezed the cable would have disconnected. I didn't check to see if I could boot to it, because I didn't think the fit was acceptable. Anybody else have this issue? Should I replace the cable? I'm thinking about returning it for a crucial M4 to see if that fits better.

Thanks in advance.

Depending on which Mac and what SSD build you have there may be

a mis-match or perhaps a workaround if the OWC SSD is too loose...

Some have used a bracket to fit an SSD where a standard HDD was.

Could be the part isn't the correct dimensions; ask about a bracket.

Because OWC mercury SSD is part of 'mac-centric' line did you ask them?

If you not tried the OWC macsales Customer Service page for information

the idea to inquire of their advice (free) about those products, is advised.

As there are videos on how to install the products, and an Upgrades page

to use for choosing the correct upgrade parts for almost any Mac.

In any event...

Good luck & happy trails! 🙂
