Apple Earphone volume control does not work

My earphone volume control does not work on my iPhone 8 Plus.

It worked until last week and could even take pictures with the camera using the earphone volume control.

When I connect the Apple earphones to the iPhone 8 using the connector that came with the telephone SIRI start up directly as if there is a crosswire or a wrong setting. Telephone doesn't work either through Earphones or bluetooth connected headsets.

I've tried several Apple Earphones (new and old) and none of them works.

Is there at new iOS that does not work with the earphones? or is there a setting on the iPhone that needs to be changed?

iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 11.2.6

Have you tried restarting your iPhone? Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Test your earphones in another iPhone to make sure they work.
Make sure there's no lint buildup in the port.
If everything above is okay, try restoring the iPhone from a backup - Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support
If that doesn't work try restoring back to factory settings - Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support
If that doesn't work then you will need to make an appointment at an Apple Store to have it diagnosed.

I have now restored the iPhone to factory settings and restored it from the backup it took.

Earphones stille does not work.

When I plug in the earphones that came with the iPhone Siri starts up and ask what it can do for me, however, the mic on the earphones does not work.

When I receive a call on my phone I can hear the caller in the earphone, however, the caller cannot hear me - mic does not work.

When I use my wireless bluetooth Bose headset when on the phone the caller can hear me (the mic is working) bud I can not hear the caller.

Alle this happened over night one week ago. It worked Friday 2. March it did not work Saturday 3. March at lunch time.
