Mac OS Sierra Update Help Please

The latest update had my computer restart and it has come up with an error message on the restart as

macOS could not be installed on your computer.

The path.... .../OSinstal.mpkg appears to be missing

It has only restart as an option and it just repeats back to the same screen every time.

What can I do to get out of this cycle?
