SLO-MO Movies Airdropped from iPhone X

Hi,

I made some new slo-mo videos this morning, using an iPhone X, transferred them to my Mac via Airdrop, started FCPX and then imported one of the slo-mo videos. I don't see anything on the FCPX screen that tells me it is a slow-motion video. I'm missing something or looking in the wrong spot. I've uploaded a photo so you can see what I am looking at.....

Here is the specs from the QuickTime Player. Also included a screenshot of the movie's information from the iPhone. To me, the latter photo, the screenshot, shows the movie is a slot-mo movie when it is on the phone. And, on the iPhone, the duration of the film is shown as 13 seconds, but it takes about 40 seconds to play.

Well, I don't know why this didn't occur to me earlier … like maybe a week or so ago … but I just tried using the photo app to transfer the video and it did it fine. Frame rate for the transferred file is the same as the original file, 120 fps.

The circle on the video's thumbnail that indicates the video is slo-mo is there in the screenshot I took from Final Cut Pro X. I didn't know about that circle until Tom Wolsky mentioned it early in this discussion, but after he mentioned it I kept looking for it. See the photo I've attached for the video's thumbnail with the circle in it . It's toward the bottom.

So, the good news is that I don't have to use a cable. I just wish that the slo-motion would be preserved when transferring the file via Airdrop. That would be best.

Yes, I have the phone set for slomo – by "set for slomo" I mean slomo is what I have chosen from the choices on the iPhone when making a video.

However, I was not shooting in HEVC, but I changed the settings to HEVC and have had the same results. I thought it was possible that Airdrop was changing the settings, but felt uncertain about it. Now, it seems more likely me that Airdrop is converting files on the fly when transferring files from iPhones to a Mac.

I can make adjustments within FCPX, but I was hoping for some sort of reliable visual indicator on the file's thumbnails that would show me it was a slomo movie, as that would make my video editing a lot faster. Oh well, I can live with it. Thanks so much for your help. You have helped me in the past and I have a lot of respect for your opinion.

Yea...I guess I'll have to use a cable. I'm not too excited about that. It really slows me down. Too bad about airdrop....I use Airdrop many times every day, but for some reason I didn't realize that the slomo video wasn't making it to my Mac. Maybe there is another way other than cable. That would be great!
