synching 2 imac computers

I have 2 imacs; one is Active and contains the data I want. The 2nd has been idle for several months. I want to put the 'idle' one back in use and want it to contain the the data that's on the 'active' imac. I have time capsule but I'm wondering if I can connect the 2 computers and update the data files in that manner.

I'm running Sierra 10.12.26

Keeping two iMacs in synch I have two iMacs (m1), one is in my home office and the other is in a vacation home that I visit every three months or so. What is a good way to bring the vacation iMac up-to-date (data files) with the office iMac? And then bring the office up-to-date with the changes I made while on vacation?

can imac and macbook have the same contents Is there a way I can link my MacBook to my iMac such that they always have the same contents? My iMac is in the Office and I bring my MacBook home. I was hoping to have an easy way to link the two such that essentially they have all the same contents and are always in sync with each other. Ive availed of storage from iCloud if that helps. Thanks a lot!
