Facebook icon with clock showing up in dock

The Facebook icon with a clock started showing up in my dock this morning. I’ve read about its purpose, but I cannot get it go go away.

Tried Settings>Multitasking & Dock> and switched OFF “show recommended and recent apps”. No luck.
