I have restored my broken ipad with a cracked screen which will not take input properly. How should I dispose of it?

My old ipad was somehow damaged so the screen is cracked and messed up enough that I cannot enter my passcode. It reads the presses as the wrong number. As such I have given up so I restored the device which I think wipes the data and resets it. Is there anything productive i can do with it or some place to dispose of it???

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.3, iCloud on my Windows 7 PC

Apple, BestBuy and others will take it and make sure it gets recycled properly (and safely - things like the lithium in the battery are toxic). You can just drop it off at any Apple Store, or BestBuy Store.
