Photoshop CS not opening/launching

Question

Photoshop CS not opening/launching

I've had my new imac 24" for 5 months with no problems.
However,just now when i tried to launch Photoshop CS nothing happened!
I've tried clicking the jpeg files and using open with CS in the finder:ziilch!
Also double clicking the jpeg file..and still nothing.
Everything was working fine a couple of hours ago.
All other apps seem to be working fine.
HELP!!
Any ideas?

Before I try to re-install,do i need to get rid of anything e.g the old Photoshop CS?

Photoshop runs under Rosetta emulation as it is a PPC application. This could be the cause of the problem. Go to your Utilities folder and launch Activity Monitor. In the AM search for a process called 'translated' and use AM to quit it. (You'll need your admin password for this.). Then try launch PS.

Hi Terence,
Where and what is "AM"?
Also,just downloaded the trial version of CS2 and it's working fine but Photoshop CS still not working.

AM is Activity Monitor.

If CS 2 is working then it's not a Rosetta problem as that's a Rosetta issue also.

Eventually found this fix and it works:
Finally, there's a known bug in Photoshop 7 and later that can cause the application not to launch. Try this:
* Open System Preferences > Time & Date
* Click the "Time Zone" tab
* Change the time zone to something other than it is now (doesn't matter what)
* Close System Preferences.
* Now, repeat the procedure above, this time setting the time zone back to your preferred location.

It seems that you dn't have a working copy of you Photoshop CS. Mine is working fine.
Before uninstall Photoshop or other Adobe Apps chek the Adobe web. There is a lot of files, preferences and fonts to remove.

I had the same problem with my copy. I upgraded to the Photoshop CS3 Beta (which runs flawlessly) and never looked back.
