Beats Studio 3 not auto-pairing

Hi,

I recently purchased the Beats Studio 3. But when I powered them on it didn't auto-pair with my iPhoneX next to it.

However, if I go to settings>bluetooth it appears as discoverable and can connect with it, but it doesn't show the animation on the status bar like it does when it pairs with other wireless headphones.

I also tried the proximity auto-pairing with an iPhone 6, but the result was the same as described above. Both devices are running iOS 11.2.6.

Does this means the W1 chip on my Beats Studio 3 is broken/not working?
