How to see a folder size

How do I set up Finder to show folder sizes?

I want to figure out how big my documents section is AND it must be by seeing the size of the folders.

I would like to avoid having to open each and every successive folder to the point of content and then add up the sizes by hand. That is why I have a computer.

Right now the only way to see how much stuff is in a folder (Thus the folder has size if there is stuff in it.) is to open and see the size of each item.

Frustrated.

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.5)
