Numbers Files show in recent but can't open

I have the numbers app on my phone, recently after updates to the ios or app the files (stored on my phone) show in recent files, but cannot be opened. These files no longer show in my icloud (where they were not stored) or in the On My iPhone location. The same is true when I attempt to locate my files through the unnecessary Files app, they are visible as recent files but not located on my phone or in the icloud.

Have I lost these files permanently because Apple made "improvements" to their apps?
