What's best b&w printer/scanner for iMac 10.6?
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)
The problem is going to be finding a new printer / scanner for Mac 10.6.
As an example, this new HP requires OS X 10.10 or later > HP ENVY Photo 7164 All-in-One Printer - Apple
Doubtful you'll find a new one for Mac 10.6 Snow Leopard.
New. perhaps not - and finding a black-and-white only printer is almost impossible.
I can only tell you that my Canon Pixma IP4950 and my Epson Perfection 3490 Scanner both ran perfectly when I had Snow Leopard OS 10.6
I am now on Lion OS 10.7 and they still do - with updated drivers.
The should be available still (second-hand) on eBay.
Consider finding a Postscript based printer. Generally speaking, most Postscript based printers can work with generic print drivers.
