JBL Clip2 won't pair with Ipad

I have tried to pair the ipad to the JBL clip2. I was successful a few days ago. But I disconnected it to pair with my samsung. Coming back to the ipad tonight, I try to pair.....forgot device to re-introduce, It comes up in devices list but when I select it, I get a message saying I should make sure it is turned on and within range and ready to pair..?? Of course its on..it just populated in the list! I made sure it was not already paired to other devices or phones. It just doesn't want to pair. I did the short press, not the long for daisy chain, turned it off, tried again, it populates on the list and same message. Shut it off..move to the samsung, try to pair...easy peasy ..pairs and disconnects completely. SOOOO must be something in the ipad? Suggestions? TIA
