Can I have two apple tvs on at the same time and have each apple remote only operate it’s respective tv?

seems to suggest that each Apple TV device gets paired with a specific remote. I interpret “If asked, place your remote on top of Apple TV to complete pairing” as a way of distinguishing between two devices when very close to each other. But that is my guess.
