Factory Reset

Has this happened to anyone recently; iPhone 7 Plus, last night I would attempt to open an app and would automatically close, turned phone off and turned back on "Connect to itunes" message on screen came up shortly after starting up my phone. Connected to iTunes when it then later asked me to restore or update, automatically updated to new IOS software, 11.2.6. After a few minutes, phone restarted and was reset to factory settings. Tried to recover my files and NOTHING was there. I lost all my pictures, contacts you name it... Is there any way possible to recover my data?
